Boston Wins!

                                                  Boston (94) vs. Washington (86)
Saturday January 1,2012

WASHINGTON (AP)—Doc Rivers was enjoying his team’s win so much that he didn’t realize Rajon Rondo had achieved his eighth regular-season triple-double.

Rondo had 18 points, 14 assists and 11 rebounds while Kevin Garnett had 24 points and nine rebounds to lead the Boston Celtics over the winless Washington Wizards 94-86 on Sunday night.

Rivers found out about Rondo’s statistical feat when he glanced at the final box score.

“I just knew he played great. He was sensational all night. He had one of those nights—he had this last year in stretches—where he just called a good game, you know, like he’s a great catcher,” Rivers said.

“He called a terrific game tonight.”

The victory was the Celtics’ second straight after losing their first three.

“It’s just two games. We had some tough losses the first few games, but it’s about building and I think that’s what we’re doing right now,” Rondo said.

Garnett had just 43 points in the first four games. He dominated Washington’s front line—hitting nine of his 17 field goals—scoring 12 points in each half.

“At this point my defense is definitely ahead of my offense,” Garnett said. “(Rivers) wants me to be a lot more offensive.”

The Celtics took the lead in the first 3 minutes and increased the margin to 19 points. Boston led by at least seven points throughout the second half.

Washington is 0-4. After losing the opener by six points to New Jersey, the Wizards have lost the last three by 47 points.

Washington, which lost five straight to open 2008-09, could match that start Monday in Boston when the teams play again.

John Wall, who was 10 for 37 from the field in Washington’s first three games, was 6 for 13 against the Celtics. He finished with 19 points, eight assists and seven rebounds. He committed his fourth foul with 4:25 remaining in the third quarter on a three-point play by Rondo.

“He does the little things. He’s sneaky at rebounding,” Wall said. “He does a great job of trying to steal the ball. He can score in various ways.”

JaVale McGee had 16 points and 14 rebounds for the Wizards, while Nick Young had 18 points.

The Celtics took a 30-17 lead early in the second quarter. Paul Pierce, in his second game since returning from a bruised right heel, played the first 9 minutes—a few more than Rivers envisioned. Rivers previously said he was more worried about Pierce’s conditioning than the heel.

Pierce, who had 12 points in 23 minutes on Friday night, had nine in 28 against Washington.

After the Wizards cut the deficit to 32-25, Boston went on a 12-2 run to take a 44-27 lead with 3:45 left in the second quarter.

The Celtics led 51-34 at halftime. Boston nearly doubled Washington’s shooting percentage in the first half—the Celtics shot 55.6 percent, the Wizards 28.2 percent. Washington missed all nine of its 3-point attempts in the half and finished 2 of 16.

“We’re getting good shots. We missed nine shots inside of 4 feet,” Wizards coach Flip Saunders said.

Washington scored seven straight points to cut Boston’s lead to 65-58 with 2:33 remaining in the third quarter, but the Celtics led 73-60 after three.

NOTES: Wizards C/F Ronny Turiaf left the game in the third quarter with a bruised left hand. Saunders said he was doubtful for Monday night. … Boston played without F/C Chris Wilcox (bruised left shoulder). Rivers said there was a good chance Wilcox would play on Monday night. … Washington assigned C Hamady Ndiaye to Iowa of the NBA D-League. … When Roger Mason checked into the game for the Wizards in the second quarter, the crowd murmured. Mason’s name was inadvertently omitted from the eligible list for Friday’s game in Milwaukee— resulting in Mason’s disqualification.

Rose and CP3 has bring a lot of excitement on today's game and a match-up that we definitely need to follow throughout the season.  Bulls did murder the Clippers in today's game even if the Clippers outshot the bulls and outscored them in the paint.  Though the big difference is the Bulls shooters have been there to provide Rose the necessary fire power to breakdown the Clippers defense.  With only Blake doing much of the damage it is surely not enough to compete with the raging Bull.  Blake need more of CP3 and all of its cast to be able to compete with the Elite team in the NBA.

Though they still have 63 more games to go and with the Clippers new look we are sure they will put more challenge to the Top team probably will go to Playoff to play with the Big Boys!

Denver (99) vs. Lakers (90)

Denver (99) vs. Lakers (90)
Sunday January 1, 2012

Kobe S**K!!!! you know why???
Let me give you a short explanation, first Kobe shot 6 out of 28 sad to say but this is the worst for a Super Star in his generation, next he is 1 of 8 from the 3 point range, come on coach what are you thinking giving him all the shot?? This clearly shows how selfish he is and he's coach has no balls to tell the guy to stop shooting and start making plays.  Secondly, he is not aware he has a great cast that can still provide him fire power in any angle but he does not recognize them is he blind?, lastly he complaints a lot which is making him frustrated and will only result to bad plays in both ends.

If he keep on playing the way he play last night then no way in hell the Lakers will contend for the championship this season.  I hope Ron Artest will give Kobe a head shot  for him to wake up and start playing like a Superstar that we all know he can be.

Miami is unstoppable!

MIAMI (AP)—Last week, drama for the Miami Heat was defined as having one shot to beat the Charlotte Bobcats.

On Sunday night, it was defined as whether the Heat would enjoy the biggest win in franchise history.

Chris Bosh scored 20 of his 24 points in the first half, and the Heat improved to 5-0 for the first time by rolling past the Bobcats 129-90. The 129 points is the most scored by any NBA team so far this season and the 39-point victory margin matched the third-largest in Heat history, four shy of the team mark.

“I think we’re where we should be,” Dwyane Wade said. “I think we’re only going to get better.”

Wade scored 22 points and LeBron James, Mario Chalmers and Norris Cole all scored 16 for the Heat, who ran out to an 18-point lead after one quarter and held a 46-point lead at one point in the fourth.

DJ White scored 21 points and Kemba Walker finished with 17 for Charlotte, which lost its seventh straight regular-season meeting against Miami.

“Tonight was a night,” Bobcats’ guard Corey Maggette said, “where we just did not get it done.”

The Heat needed a game-winner from Wade with 2.9 seconds left to win at Charlotte on Wednesday night.

No such heroics were necessary this time. In fact, it took a falling-down 3-pointer from Walker—while getting fouled—with 3:26 left to get Charlotte back within 40 points.

“Just one of those games where nothing went right,” Charlotte coach Paul Silas said.

White made all eight of his shots in the first half for the Bobcats. The rest of Charlotte’s starters in the first 24 minutes shot a staggering 3 for 22, including an 0 for 7 from D.J. Augustin and 0 for 6 from Maggette.

So in control was Miami that James—who got engaged to longtime girlfriend Savannah Brinson as his New Year’s highlight—wasn’t even an offensive factor in the first half. His first field goal of the game came on a layup with 48 seconds remaining before intermission, and by then the Heat lead was 63-37.

“We came into the game tonight trying to play with a heightened sense of athleticism,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. “I was encouraged by our ability to concentrate, even as we got the lead.”

Chalmers made all four of his shots from 3-point range, Cole scored his 16 points in 20 minutes, and Miami held huge edges in fast-break points (30-11) and points in the paint (58-38).

“We wanted a complete effort,” Bosh said. “I think we got it.”

Bosh controlled the play early, scoring nine of Miami’s first 15 points, the last of those being an alley-oop dunk off a feed from Chalmers for an 11-point Heat lead. And with that, it was a total turnaround from the game in Charlotte last week, where Miami quickly got into an 11-0 hole and needed to scratch and claw all the way to the finish.

On Sunday, Spoelstra had the luxury of giving his starters plenty of time off in the fourth quarter, with the added bonus there being a few extra minutes to rest up for a visit from Atlanta (3-1) on Monday night. Every Miami starter spent at least 18 minutes on the bench.

“Guys had fresh legs and guys were very responsible last night with the new year coming in,” James said.

Before the game, Silas said he thought Walker was “a little tired” as the rookie got used to the NBA grind.

Walker might not have been alone with that issue.

Besides White, no other Charlotte starter reached double figures in scoring. Maggette is now 1-for-16 shooting in two games against Miami this season. Augustin finished 1 for 11, the worst shooting night of his career when trying at least 10 shots. Combined, Charlotte’s starters grabbed 14 rebounds, which was four more than what Bosh collected by himself.

“We’re all going to take the load off every night for each other. That’s what great teams do,” Bosh said. “It was just a good night.”

NOTES: It was Miami’s second wire-to-wire win of the year, the first being the season-opening victory on Christmas at Dallas. … The Heat are now 5-0 on New Year’s Day games. Charlotte is 0-3. … Wade became the 25th active player with 14,000 career points. … Charlotte C Boris Diaw passed the 8,000-minute mark as a Bobcat. … When James plays, his teams are now 22-5 against the Bobcats. … The Heat have won 12 of 15 games all-time at home against Charlotte.

LeBron James, Savannah Brinson engaged

MIAMI (AP)—LeBron James’ first order of business in 2012: Drop to one knee and ask longtime girlfriend Savannah Brinson to be his wife.

Yes, she said yes.

Moments after ringing in the new year, James surprised his high school sweetheart by popping the question—letting very few people in on the secret beforehand. He did it at a party both to celebrate New Year’s Eve and his 27th birthday, which was Friday.

“My girl, she’s very excited,” James said Sunday night after he and the Miami Heat beat Charlotte 129-90. “She would love to answer more questions about it than me. But she’s happy, my family’s happy and that’s what it’s about.”

With a number of teammates and close friends looking on, James pulled off a bit of a sneak attack. He and Brinson had discussed marriage in the past, but amid the din of ringing in 2012, she didn’t expect the two-time NBA MVP to get on bended knee at that moment.

“It was beautiful,” Heat teammate Chris Bosh said. “I told him, `Good luck.’ It was nice. It was real nice.”

The news got out quickly among James’ inner circle, with close friend Chris Paul of the Los Angeles Clippers and Heat owner Micky Arison among those tweeting their congratulations before the New Years’ parties were winding down.

Heat teammate Dwyane Wade was in charge of holding the ring until the big moment.

“It’s very nice,” Wade said. “Very nice. They have good taste. … To me, it felt like he was on his knee for an hour. It was probably like 35 seconds. It was great. I feel so happy for them and their entire family.”

James and Brinson are the parents of two sons.

“I had no idea it was coming,” Bosh said. “I just heard some commotion, and yeah, there it was. It was nice. It was real cool.”

No wedding date has been announced.

“It should be a surprise for any woman anytime something like that happens,” James said. “She was surprised. It was great that all the friends and family were there to bring in a new year. Even my kids were happy about it, so that’s good. … I feel good. I feel good. It’s a good point in my life right now.”
